Why I'm building Safe With Me
I grew up in care. Safe With Me began with the support I wish had existed then.
I'm Lid. I'm care-experienced, and I spent much of my childhood inside the care system.
Safe With Me comes from knowing what it's like to move through care without consistently feeling safe, secure or properly supported. Not every part of it was bad, and I'm not interested in turning my childhood into a story designed to make anyone feel sorry for me. But the gaps were real, and they remain real for many people living in and leaving care today.
A lot of support is technically available and practically hard to reach. You get handed a leaflet, a phone number, a form. What's often missing is someone who understands the context without needing it explained, and who treats you like a person rather than a case.
The name says the intention. Safe With Me is meant to be the kind of safe, human, non-judgemental support I wish had existed when I was growing up: clear, warm, and straight with you about what it can and can't do.
What I bring to it
Alongside my lived experience, I bring a background in digital marketing, content creation, branding, music, creative strategy and website development through my work with PLH Creative. I want to use those skills to help Safe With Me reach care-experienced people directly, particularly through the platforms they already use.
In September 2026, I'll begin a Google marketing mentorship programme. I plan to use what I learn, and the relationships I build, to strengthen Safe With Me's direction, funding strategy and long-term sustainability.
Where things actually stand
Safe With Me is in development. The programmes on this site are plans at different stages — some in design, some waiting on funding and partnerships. I'd rather show you the real picture than a polished promise.
I'm actively looking for mentors, funders, partners and people with relevant expertise — safeguarding, governance, social work, finance, fundraising — and especially other care-experienced people who want to shape what this becomes.
